Modes in
the Wild.

Guitar Soloing Bootcamp, Part 1

A 6 week live online bootcamp created by Christopher Schreiner and taught live by the Guitarmalade instructor team. We take six modes out of theory class and into real solos, so you can finally hear and use the sound of each one over the chords.

Modes in the Wild: Guitar Soloing Bootcamp, Part 1. Dorian, Mixolydian, Aeolian, Phrygian Dominant, Ionian, Lydian. 6 weeks live.
The problem

Stuck in the box?

You know the mode shapes. You can name them. But when the backing track starts, your solo slides right back into the same pentatonic box it always does.

Modes in the Wild fixes that. Instead of memorizing patterns, you learn where each mode actually shows up in real music, which chord tones give it its color, and how to phrase it so it sounds like music instead of a scale exercise.

Six modes. Six weeks. Live.

1
Minor · Soulful

Dorian

The cool, soulful minor. Funk, jam and classic rock grooves.

2
Dominant · Bluesy

Mixolydian

The sound of blues rock and dominant chord jams.

3
Minor · Dark

Aeolian

The natural minor. Dark, emotional, and everywhere in rock.

4
Exotic · Heavy

Phrygian Dominant

Exotic, heavy and dramatic. Metal and flamenco fire.

5
Major · Melodic

Ionian

The major scale, played melodically instead of like a drill.

6
Major · Dreamy

Lydian

Bright, dreamy and cinematic. That floating raised 4th.
